Jacobean Chest    

This is a reproduction of a linen chest from the Jacobean or Oak period; circa 1650-1690. This style of chest was usually the only piece of furniture brought from England to the colonies. The carvings on the front panels are called "intaglios", in which shallow depressions form a pattern in relief. This pattern is described as "foliated scrolls.  The floor is aromatic cedar.
