Portsmouth Tea or China Table

This is a reproduction of a tea or china table originally made by cabinet-makers from the Portsmouth, New Hampshire area,  circa 1755-1765.  It is based on a Thomas Chippendale drawing from the Director. There are a total of sixteen carved volutes on the dainty and functional double-arched stretchers.  The gallery is so lacey as to require three layers of wood to be laminated together to give it strength. It is constructed entirely of Mahogany and Mahogany veneers, and finished with shellac.
